Glad the weed problem had a simple solution. My solarification suggestion with clear plastic probably wouldn’t have worked for you since you’re already in a greenhouse.

You have to use black weed fabric to kill weeds. White allows light and as you see, encourages weed growth

Great video! this is my first year using different fertilizers so this helped a ton. I got an EC meter but just as a good starting point for something like 13-13-13 granule, how much per a square foot would you recommend to put out? And how often would be normal?

Your plants look good. I got 2.5 acres of regular pumpkins planted this year. I cut way back on what I plant. My wife and I are not getting any younger and the fertilizer is 50% higher this year than 2 years ago. I don't have any of my big ones in the ground since I had to get my other ground planted. before Memorial Day. If I get some going I will do videos on my UA-cam page. Thanks for the free seeds this year. I got the tomatoes planted you sent me back about April 15th. We got a frost that killed 3 of them/. I still have three left.

theres stuff called panda film thats black on one side and white on the other which would probably work well for weed control and light reflection, maybe expensive so id check for the alibaba equivalent

What biologicals are you planning to dose daily?

I would put clear plastic over the fabric you already put down. Like someone already said, solarization. It’ll speed up germination of the weed stock at the top of your soil, heat them up, and hopefully kill them in a few weeks. The clear plastic creates another “mini greenhouse” on the soil and should raise temps up enough to get the weeds going and kill then off. However, you’re already in such a controlled environment you may not be able to achieve the heat you would need to kill the weeds. I’ve done solarization the past two years to prep the garden and pumpkin patch. It helped tremendously, but I also don’t till, and I have a much warmer spring than you. One downside is that it restricts oxygen to the soil so in your case I would roll it back several feet in front of the plant as I go, or pull it up all together after I let it sit for a few weeks. If you still want to roundup everything before laying out the plastic then go for it. But I’d opt for clear plastic over black. I think you’d reap some benefits there

For weeds you could try solarization. I recently heard of it and need to try it. But it takes 4-6 weeks which you may not have at this point. Basic idea is to tightly cover wet soil with clear plastic for a few weeks super heating the soil to kill weeds and seeds and pests. My first attempt at giants recently sprouted. It will be fun to see what happens

Could you cover the weed fabric with compost?

Maybe get rid of the existing weed fabric kill the weeds and put down biodegradable plastic mulch. Works great for rows on my pumpkin farm and you till it into the soil when you’re done.

Can you just cover the white fabric with black plastic to block the light and kill the existing weeds?

Go with new and better weed barrier..or none at all. That white light dimmer will not do you any good
